Parish History

The church of Bethnal Green St Peter, "in the Hackney-road, was built by the year 1843. It was one of at least 16 churches all laying within St Matthew Bethnal Green Parish that had been consecrated and assigned chapelry districts each with a chapel building by the year 1870.[1]

The foundation stone of St. Peter's, was laid in 1840. By 1843 four churches (St. Peter's, St. Andrew's, St. Philip's, and St. James the Less's) had been consecrated and assigned chapelry districts.[2]
