Bethnal Green St Paul

Guide to Bethnal Green St Paul, Middlesex ancestry, family history, and genealogy: Parish registers, transcripts, census records, birth records, marriage records, and death records.

Parish History

Most churches suffered bomb damage and in 1951 the Church Commissioners made a Scheme to reduce Bethnal Green's parishes from 14 to eight. St. Philip's, St. Paul's, and St. Matthias's, small western parishes which had been cleared of slums, were united with St. Matthew's.[1]

St Paul Bethnal Green was created as one of several mid to late 19th century district churches constructed within the boundaries of St Matthew Bethnal Green. It was built in the year 1865 and its boundaries were taken from some of St Thomas Bethnal Green.
