Autonomous Communities

Historys
The Canary Islands also known informally as the Canaries, are a Spanish archipelago and the southernmost autonomous community of Spain created in 1982. The islands that comprise the autonomous community of Canarias are located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the western coast of Africa, in a region known as Macaronesia and 62 miles west of Morocco at the closest point. The capital is shared by the cities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. [2]
