Historical Background[edit | edit source]

The Island of Anguilla was part of the Leeward Islands until 1825, then was incorporated in the colony of St. Christopher (St. Kitts)-Nevis. In 1967 Anguilla seceded from its association with St. Kitts-Nevis and in 1969 became a separate dependency of Great Britain.
