Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - many men from Marion County
- Company B - many men from Hancock County
- Company C - many men from Wayne and Fayette Counties
- Company D - many men from Union County
- Company E - many men from Henry and Rush Counties
- Company F - many men from Marion, Johnson, Rush and Boone Counties
- Company G - many men from Delaware County
- Company H - many men from Shelby, Marion and Johnson Counties
- Company I - many men from Hendricks and Marion Counties
- Company K - many men from Dearborn County
- Company L - many men from Randolph, Marion, Johnson and Delaware Counties
- Company M - many men from Rush County
