Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - men from Lake County
- Company B - men from Hancock County
- Company C - men from Benton and Porter Counties
- Company D - men from Miami County
- Company E - men from Newton, Jasper, Crawford and Carroll Counties
- Company F - men from Cass, White and Tippecanoe Counties
- Company G - men from White and Hendricks Counties
- Company H - men from Marion, Randolph and Hendricks Counties
- Company I - men from Putnam, Howard and Miami Counties
- Company K - men from Cass County
99th Regiment, Indiana Infantry was organized within the Ninth Congressional District.
