Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - men from Bartholomew County
- Company B - men from Carroll and Scott Counties
- Company C - men from Switzerland, Jefferson and Bartholomew Counties
- Company D - men from Switzerland and Decatur
- Company E - men from Bartholomew and Jefferson Counties
- Company F - men from Larwence and Monroe Counties
- Company G - men from Orange and Perry Counties
- Company H - men from Orange County
- Company I - men from Jennings County
- Company K - men from Floyd County
