Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - men from Ripley County
- Company B - men from Dearborn and Ohio Counties
- Company C - men from Ohio and Switzerland Counties
- Company D - no cities or counties given
- Company E - men from Ripley and Decatur Counties
- Company F - men from Ripley County
- Company G - men from Ripley County
- Company H - men from Dearborn County
- Company I - men from Dearborn County
- Company K - men from Ripley and Franklin Counties
