Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - many men from Orange County
- Company B - many men from Floyd and Harrison counties
- Company C - many men from Switzerland, and Scott counties
- Company D - many men from Washington County
- Company E - many men from Harrison and Crawford
- Company F - many men from Clark County
- Company G - many men from Monroe County
- Company H - many men from Clark, Boone, Allen, and Posey counties
- Company I - many men from Orange County
