Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - many men from Martin County
- Company B - many men from Boone County
- Company C - many men from Pike, Harrison, and Crawford Counties
- Company D - many men from Johnson County
- Company E - many men from Gibson County
- Company F - many men from Johnson, Marshall, Wabash, Floyd, Pike, and Miami Counties
- Company G - many men from Madison County
- Company H - many men from Gibson County
- Company I - many men from Sullivan County
- Company K - many men from Lawrence County
