Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - men from Vanderburgh County
- Companies B, C - men from Knox County
- Company D - men from Warrick County
- Company E - men from Dubois County
- Company F - men from Warrick and Vanderburgh Counties
- Companies G, H - men from Gibson County
- Company I - men from Gibson and Pike Counties
- Company K - men from Martin and Daviess Counties
