13th Regiment, Indiana Infantry
Brief History[edit | edit source]
This Unit was organized at Indianapolis, Indiana, for one year's service May, 1861, but reorganized for three years and mustered in June 19, 1861. They mustered out September 5, 1865 at North Carolina.[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

- Company A - many men from Marion County; reorganized soldiers of Franklin, Elkhart, Ripley, Whitley, Randolph, Kosciusko, DeKalb, Noble, Miami, and other counties
- Company B - many men from Miami County; reorganized soldiers of Howard, Bartholomew, Washington, Wayne, Jefferson, DeKalb, Ripley, and other counties
- Company C - many men from Franklin County; reorganized soldiers of Huntington, Marshall, La Porte, Jefferson, Noble, La Grange, and other counties
- Company D - many men from Jefferson County; reorganized soldiers of Marion, DeKalb, Jefferson, Howard, Allen, Elkhart, Kosciusko, and other counties
- Company E - many men from Howard County; reorganized soldiers of Delaware, Marion, DeKalb, Jefferson, Howard, Bartholomew, Vigo, Elkhart, and other counties
- Company F - many men from Huntington County; reorganized soldiers of Delaware, Vigo, Sullivan, Noble, Greene, Martin, Putnam, and Daviess counties
- Company G - many men from Washington County; reorganized soldiers of Vigo, Pike, Wabash, Henry, and Scott counties
- Company H - many men from Marion County; reorganized soldiers of Putnam, Allen, Wells, Decatur, and Owen counties
- Company I - many men from Ripley County; reorganized soldiers of Vigo, Madison, Crawford, Randolph, and Ripley counties
- Company K - many men from Bartholomew County; reorganized soldiers of Allen, Vigo, Elkhart, Lake, Marion, and Wayne counties
