Brief History

This unit was organized at Kendallville and Michigan City, Indiana, December 16, 1863, to March 1, 1864. It was at the surrender of Johnston and his army and Provost duty at Charlotte, North Carolina, May 9 to August 29. The regiment mustered out at Charlotte, North Carolina, August 29, 1865.
