Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - men from Benton, Jefferson and Newton Counties
- Companies B, C, K - men from Cass County
- Company D - men from St. Joseph County
- Company E - men from Porter County
- Company F - men from White and Harrison Counties
- Company G - men from Cass, Fulton and Kosciusko Counties
- Company H - men from Cass, Porter, La Porte and Bartholomew Counties
- Company I - men from La Porte and Marshall Counties
