124th New York Infantry Monument Dedication

Brief History

The 124th Infantry was organized at Goshen, Orange County, and mustered in September 5, 1862.[1] They were mustered in under;Colonel A. Van Horne Ellis, Lt. Colonel Francis M. Cummins and Major James Cromwell. The regiment was moved to Washington, D. C., May 2-12, 1865 and was mustered out June 3, 1865 under Colonel Weygant, Lieutenant Colonel Murray. Veterans and Recruits were transferred to 93rd New York Infantry.[2]
