Black Family History Day: In celebration of Black History Month, the African American Genealogical Society of Northern California and the Oakland Family History Center invite you to Black Family History Day. Join us for this free public event February 11 from 1:00 PM to 5 PM. Receive assistance in beginning your family tree, learn about the tools available on the Internet and make it possible for future generations to know and understand their heritage.

Beginning Research in England The California Genealogical Society and the Oakland CA Family History Center present this second class in the Ancestral Homeland Series. Join us as Jeremy Frankel introduces the class to British genealogical research and online resources for English/Welsh civil registration and census, church and probate records. Must preregister! Oakland California Family History Center

The Oakland (California) Regional Family History Center is one of the largest and most accessible centers for genealogical research in California, with over 9,000 volumes of books, periodicals, family histories, city and county histories, city directories, plus over 37,000 reels of microfilm and 9,000 microfiche containing millions of local vital records and historical census data from all over the world.
