This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library. |
The Oakland California Family History Center, located on the grounds of the beautiful Oakland LDS Temple, serves the greater San Francisco Bay Area. With high speed internet, access to many subscription websites, volunteers trained to help beginning researchers, and computers configured for our Chinese and Spanish speaking patrons, we are well able to meet the family history needs of the diverse ethnicity of the Bay Area.

How to Find our Center
- Take the Joaquin Miller/Lincoln Ave. exit off Highway 13.
- Turn Left at the end of the exit, then Left into the parking lot of the Oakland LDS Temple.
- Park near the Visitor's Center on the right (west) side of the parking lot.
- Enter the door on the right and take the elevator to the Lower Level. The Family History Center fills the entire lower level of the Visitor's Center.

- Family History Library Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog.

- FHC Portal: This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions. (Note to FHC: Not all FHCs have access to this portal. If you do not, you will want to remove this entire bullet. If you do have access to it, just remove this text in italics.)
