Wills and Probates Database Part 2

Purpose

Add the United States Wills and Deeds Experimental database to each county page in the united States

Instructions

Step One - Go to the Task List

1. From the tabs on the spreadsheet, choose a span of states to work on: Task List.

2. You can sign up for individual states by putting your name directly below "Name" above a list of counties for a state.

Note: there will be multiple states on one tab. Be sure to scroll right to see them all.

Step Two - Select a county

Using the links on the task list, click the county with a check mark for you want to work on.

Step Three - Click Edit Source

When you are on the county Wiki page, click on Edit Source at the top of the page.

Part A - Land and Property

Step One - Check the Task List

1. It is possible that there are no records but only probate records for the county in this database.

2. If there are no land records for this county, scroll down to Part B and follow the instructions. If there are land records in the database go to Step 2 below.

Step Two - Add the Link to the Page

1. If there are land records for the county, use the Contents on the page, click on Land and Property link or scroll down the page until you get to the Land and Property header.

If there is nothing under the Land and Property Records Header do this:

*Add the following header and link directly under: Land and Property Records header and the Intro template.

If there are databases already listed on the page under the Land and Property Records header do this:

*Add this link at the end of the list of collections already on the page.

*Add the header, Online Land Indexes and Records listed above the links if it is missing from the section:

''Online Land Indexes and Records''<br>

If there is a paragraph and no databases listed on the page under the Land and Property Records header do this:

*Add the following header and link after the paragraph.

''Online Land Indexes and Records''<br>

If there is an archive or court listed on the page under the Land and Property Records header do this:

*Add the following header and link directly under the address.

''Online Land Indexes and Records''<br>

If there is any other situation do this:

*In the Date column, add "Check" and move on to Part B below.

Step Three - Save the Page

1.Click Show Preview to make sure it looks good and the link works.

2. Enter in the following in the summary:

Added United States Wills and Deeds Experimental Database - project

3. Click Save Changes.

Part B - Probate

Step One - Check the Task List

1. It is possible that there are land records but not probate records for the county in this database. Return to the Task List and double check to make sure there are probate records for this county in the database.

2. If there are no probate records in the database, skip to Part C below. If there are probate records in the database go to Step 2.

Step Two - Add the Link to the Page

1. Scroll down the page to the header, Probate Records or use Ctrl + F and type in Probate Records.

If there is nothing under the Probate Records Header do this:

*Add the following header and link directly under: Probate Records header and the Intro template.

If there are databases already listed on the page under the Probate Records header do this:

*Add this link at the end of the list of collections already on the page.

*If the header, Online Probate Indexes and Records is missing, add it directly above the databases:

''Online Probate Indexes and Records''<br>

If there is a paragraph and no databases listed on the page under the Probate Records header do this:

*Add the following header and link directly under the paragraph.

 ''Online Probate Indexes and Records''<br>

If there is an archive or court listed on the page under the Probate Records header do this:

*Add the following header and link directly under the address.

''Online Probate Indexes and Records''<br>

If there is any other situation do this:

*In the Date column, add "Check" and move on to the next county and start over with Part A above.

Step Three - Save the Page

1.Click Show Preview to make sure it looks good and the link works.

2. Enter in the following in the summary:

Added United States Wills and Deeds Experimental Database - project

3. Click Save Changes.

Step Four - Go back to the Task List

1. Go to the Task List and add the date next to your name.

2. Choose the next county to work on: Task List.
