The Moapa River Reservation is located in Clark County, 8 miles west of Glendale, Nevada near the junction of State Route 168 and Interstate 15, about 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

Established -- 12 March 1873
Principal tribes -- Chemehuevi, Kaibab, Pawipits, Paiute, and Shivwits
Population -- 1969: Tribal enrollment 350. [1]

History[edit | edit source]

The Moapa Reservation was established 12 March 1873 by Executive Order. Adjustments to the reservation were made in 1874, 1875, and 1980[3].

Records[edit | edit source]

Land Records: Total acres 1,174 acres. Approximately 616 acres were allotted to Indian residents; in 1941 all allotted lands were restored to tribal status by relinquishment by the owners .
