The 32nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry mustered in August 20 to September 7, 1861 Mansfield, Ohio. They were mustered out July 20, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.[1]
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies by County:
Company A - Also known as "Lucy's Congressmen". Many men from Carrol, Columbiana, Mahoning & Stark Counties. Organized at Miller's Hall on 27 August 1861, then to Camp Bartley. - see Roster
Company B - Many men from Mechanicsburg and Texas, Champaign County; West Liberty, Logan County; and Milford Centre, Richwood and Unionville, Union County. - see Roster
Company C - Many men from Allen County & Mt. Vernon, Knox County. - see Roster
Company D - Also known as "Bowland's Roughs". Many men from Huron, Richland and Stark Counties. - see Roster
Company E - This company was principally drawn from Mansfield and Richland Counties, with some recruits from Crawford County, and "a few" from Wayne County. - see Roster
Company F - Number 1 - Augusta, Carroll, Columbiana and Coshocton Counties. The company was permanently detached 22 December 1863 and was thereafter known as the Twenty-Sixth Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery. - see Roster
Company F - Number 2 - Mustered in April 1864. - see Roster
Company G - Many men from Licking, Muskingum & Perry Counties. Organized at Camp Goddard, Zanesville. - see Roster
Company H - Many men from Allen County. Believed by some to be the color company of the regiment. - see Roster
Company I - Many men from Ashland, Delaware (50 men), Paulding, Richland & Van Wert Counties. - see Roster
Company K - Many men from New Castle, Coshocton County. - see Roster
