Bainbridge Gilbert, Yorkshire Poor Law Union

The Bainbridge Workhouse was built in 1740 and in 1812 formed the Bainbridge Gilbert Union workhouse which was known as the Bainbridge Incorporation Workhouse. This served the parishes of
Bainbridge, Askrigg,_Yorkshire Hawes,_Yorkshire Aysgarth,_Yorkshire Low Abbotside Thoralby and Burton-cum-Walden. Latter addtions in 1813 included Grinton and High Abbotside and in 1824 Caperbury.
