3rd Independent Battery, Connecticut Light Artillery

Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 3rd Independent Battery, Connecticut Light Artillery was organized and mustered in October of 1864, at Conscript Camp, Fair Haven, Connecticut. The battery was mustered out the 23rd of June, 1865 (with the exception of twenty-seven men, who were transferred to the First Connecticut Artillery), and discharged on the July 3, 1865 in New Haven, Connecticut. This battery was composed of men from all parts of Connecticut.[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
