Group Visits
The Boise FamilySearch Center offers the opportunity for individuals, organizations, and others to schedule a group visit to the center. A variety of options, listed below, are available for your group. Review the following guidelines for scheduling and holding a successful a group visit.
Logistics
- Group Size: Because of our staffing, regular patrons, facility and equipment limits, we limit the total of visitors in groups to 16 per session. Please do not visit the center with more than 6 people without a group reservation. This ensures that staff, building facilities, and computers will be available to support your group and its objectives.
- Request Procedure: Telephone or email requests are accepted. Call: 208-338-3811 or send an email to boisefamilysearch@gmail.com. Please include the following in your email: Your Name, Phone Number, Type of Group, Date and Time you are requesting, Purpose or Desired Class and how many you expect will attend.
- Supervision: Adults are encouraged to attend with youth groups so they can provide continuity after the visit. Adults accompanying youth groups are encouraged to actively participate with their youth.

Important Preparation for a Successful and Rewarding Visit
Each individual should have a FamilySearch account login: Very Important! Each individual in the group needs to bring their FamilySearch "username" and "password" to the center so they are able to login to FamilySearch and participate. Please verify the "username" and "password" at home before coming for the visit. If an individual does not yet have an account, one can be set up at familysearch.org. Children ages 8-12 years old can register for a FamilySearch account with parental permission. Individuals who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should add their membership number on their FamilySearch account information.
Specific Goal or Objective to Accomplish: Each group should have an idea or goal, before they arrive, of what they would like to accomplish during the visit to the center.
Selecting the Group Presentation: Select from one of the options below, suggest a different topic (we will teach the requested topic if possible), or have someone from your group do the teaching.
Group Visit Options
The visits include a short presentation in our meeting room, with the remainder of the time working at computers in the center.
1. Introduction to Family History (ages 8 - 12)
Help excite this age group about their ancestors. FamilySearch is introduced and Discovery Activities are shown to help them learn more about their family.
2. Preparation for Pioneer Trek
Help to look for a pioneer ancestor, locate the pioneer company the ancestor was in and then find information about them and their family members.
3. Group Visit without a Presentation
Designed for those who have been trained and want to personally teach the group or those who just want to schedule a time when group members can and make use of the computers at the center with the staff's assistance as needed.
