History
Gustaf Adolf parish was known as Viby until 1778. Written as Vigby in 1401, the name means bay (vik) village (by). The name change honored the crown prince Gustaf Adolf's baptism that year. The town, which has expanded northwest of the original church village, has also been called Skåne's Viby since 1945.[1]
