History[edit | edit source]
Known as Stro before 1414 and Ströö in 1771, the name is believed to be the Old Danish word "stro" (stream, watercourse) in reference to the nearby Vinne river. The parish is a farming area with forest in the north. The Romanesque style church was built of sandy limestone in the late 12th or early 13th century. The baptismal font and a number of sculptures from the Middle Ages have been preserved, including a couple of wooden sculptures from the 15th century. Norra was added to the parish name in 1885 in order to separate it from Västra Strö and Östra Strö. [1][2][3][4]
