Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies by County:
Company A - Many men from a mix of counties.
Company B - Many men from Hamilton and Lucas Counties.
Company C - Many men from Newark, Licking County.
Company D - Many men from a mix of counties.
Company E - Organized at Keystone Furnace, Jackson County; included recruits from Gallia and Lawrence Counties as well.
Company F - Many men from Portsmouth, Scioto County and Lawrence County.
Company G - Many men from Cleveland, Cuyahoga County.
Company H - Many men from Hillsborough, Highland County.
Company I - Many men from Lima, Allen County.
Company K - Many men from Brown County and Williamsburg, Clermont County.
