Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies and general counties of enlistment:
- Company A - many men from Porter County
- Company C - many men from Dearborn, Marion and Ripley counties
- Company D - many men from Marion, Jennings, St. Joseph, Dearborn, Ripley, Noble, Hamilton, Vermillion, and other counties
- Company E - many men from Wayne, Jay, Carroll, and Marion counties
- Company G -many men from Marion, Vigo, Franklin, Delaware, Lake, and other counties
- Company H - many men from Marion, Tippecanoe, Porter, La Grange, and Wayne counties

- Company K - many men from Vigo,Jay, Porter, Blackford, Clinton, Steuben, Porter, and other counties
- Company L - many men from Wabash County
