This conference was held 12-15 August 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah and sponsored by the Genealogical Society of Utah. This was the second international conference on records, their preservation, and access. The first was held in 1969.

Proceedings of the conference were published in 13 volumes and are available on FamilySearch.org Digital Library.
