FamilySearch Wiki:WikiProject Standardize Links on Norway Parish Pages
Purpose
We need to standardize the links on Norway parish pages to match standardized formatting.

Task List
Instructions
1. Open the Task List, and add your name to the Name column for the locality you want to sign up for.
2. Open the parish page. Locate the "Census Records" heading. If the only content of that heading is a reference to another parish (with no other collections listed), put "SKIP" in the Notes column of the spreadsheet, and continue on to the next parish.
3. Open a sandbox page to restructure these links in.
- This process will involve preserving most of the elements of the pre-existing database(s), and rearranging them to standardized formatting.
4. If the database listing contains a link to a FamilySearch Historical Records collection, arrange the components into the following order (ignore irrelevant pieces):
*'''DATES''' {{RecordSearch|COLLECTIONID|COLLECTIONTITLE}} at FamilySearch - [[HRWIKIARTICLETITLE|How to Use this Collection]]; index & images; NOTESABOUTCOVERAGE; ''Also at: [URL Ancestry] ($), [URL Digitalarkivet], {{FSC|ITEMID|title-id|disp=FamilySearch Catalog}}(*), [URL MyHeritage] ($), [URL RHD]''
If the database listing contains a link to the FamilySearch Catalog, arrange the components into the following order (ignore irrelevant pieces):
*'''DATES''' {{FSC|ITEMID|title-id|disp=CATALOGITEMTITLE}}(*) at FamilySearch Catalog - images; NOTESABOUTCOVERAGE; ''Also at: [URL Ancestry] ($), [URL Digitalarkivet], [URL MyHeritage] ($), [URL RHD]''
If the first database listing is only a link to Digitalarkivet, arrange the components into the following order (ignore irrelevant pieces):
*'''DATES''' [URL DATABASETITLE] at Digitalarkivet - images; NOTESABOUTCOVERAGE; ''Also at: [URL Ancestry] ($), [URL MyHeritage] ($), [URL RHD]''
5. If the primary link in the bullet point is a FS Catalog link or Digitalarkivet link, open the URL it is linking to in a new tab in order to pull the name of the collection/item.
- Note: for FS Catalog entries, the link display title will likely need to be replaced with the correct title from the Catalog.
- Note: if the database listing doesn't say whether it is an index or images, open the link in a new tab and evaluate the index/images of the database.
6. For notes about coverage, if the original link lists the parishes/locations in bold, add the same list, but take out the bolding code so the parishes/locations are just in regular typeface. See the example pages at the bottom of these instructions.
- Note: for 1664-1666 census listings, add "only lists males" as the coverage notes.
- Note: do not include any phrasing about microfilm images availabe at the FamilySearch Library.
7. If your parish includes a separate, unique collection listing for the censuses on the RHD website, add the RHD link as an "Also at" link in the corresponding census years. After the RHD link has been added to the correct census years, you can remove the original RHD link listing.
- Note: If the RHD listing contains a census year that isn't listed elsewhere, create a separate RHD link for that census year using the format below:
*'''DATES''' [URL Census Search] at RHD - index
8. For other websites/databases, mirror the structure(s) above as best you can. Yammer Amber with questions, or add uncertainties to the Notes column of the task list.
9. Once all links are formatted correctly (make sure they're not just in your sandbox... they need to then be added to the parish page), click "Show preview" on the parish page and make sure they look correct. Be sure there are no line spaces between database listings.
10. If everything looks good, add the following statement to the Summary box:
Standardized database formatting
11. Save the page, and continue on to the next parish.
