Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 4th Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery mustered in August 17, 1861 at Cincinnati, Ohio.  The non-veterans were mustered out August 29, 1864. Veterans and recruits were attached to Artillery Reserve, Nashville, Tennessee, that was attached to 10th Ohio Battery until March, 1865. They were transferred to 10th Ohio Battery March 19, 1865.  [1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Many men from Hamilton County.
