History

Until January 1, 2007 Tommerup municipality was a municipality in the former Funen County in central Denmark and the municipality's main city and site of its municipal council was Tommerup.
The municipality was created in 1970 due to a Municipality Reform that combined the following parishes, Broholm, Brylle, Tommerup and Verninge.
Tommerup municipality ceased to exist as the result of The Municipality Reform of 2007 when it was merged with Haarby, Glamsbjerg, Assens, Aarup and Vissenbjerg municipalities to form a new Assens municipality. The new municipality belongs to Region of Southern Denmark.
