Brief History

The 3rd Independent Company, Ohio Cavalry mustered in July 4, 1861 at Cinncinati, Ohio. They mustered out May 22, 1865.  

The Third Independent Company of Cavalry served the first three months of the war in West Virginia, familiarly known as "Pfau's Company of Horse," for their captain, Philip Pfau. The members re-enlisted in other organizations.
