1979: Census carried out, but it was sporadic in information on the population and there was no census carried out after.

Birth and marriage certificates are rare for Afghans. Since about 2004, babies born in 15 refugee camps on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan have had birth certificates created by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
