Brief History[edit | edit source]
The 2nd Regiment, Maryland Infantry was organized at Baltimore, Md., June to September, 1861. It had duty in the Department of Washington till July and mustered out July 7, 1865.[1]
For more information on the history of this unit, see:
- 2nd Regiment Infantry at The Civil War Archive.
- 2nd Maryland Infantry at Wikipedia.
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
There were no cities or counties given in rosters for this unit.
