French Colonization (1649-1763)[edit | edit source]
In 1649 a French expedition of 203 men from Martinique founded a permanent settlement on Grenada. The British captured Grenada during the Seven Years' War in 1762 and it was formally ceded to Britain in 1763. Expansion depth limit exceeded

British Colonization (1763-1974)[edit | edit source]
Grenada was formally ceded to Britain by the Treaty of Paris in 1763. Independence was granted on 7 February 1974, under the leadership of Eric Gairy, who became the first Prime Minister of Grenada. Expansion depth limit exceeded
