Collection Description

The Genealogy Room in the Schertz Public Library contains over 400 print materials, as well as microfilm materials. Topics are not limited to the Schertz Area. The Schertz Library also has the library edition of Ancestry available on their computers, accessible with a current Schertz Library card number. Please ask a librarian if you need assistance finding the Genealogy room or accessing Ancestry on the library computers.

History

The Genealogy collection is fully maintained and operated by volunteers from The Schertz Area Genealogist Group. Volunteers from the genealogy group are available to help with questions. Please contact sagschertz@gmail.com if you would like to arrange for a volunteer to meet you at the Genealogy Room to help with your research.


The Schertz Area Genealogy group meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month in Meeting Room 2 of the Schertz Public Library. Meeting Room 2 is located in the first door on the right when entering through the front doors of the library building. Visitors are always welcome.

Tips for Your Visit

  • Know what you are looking for before visiting. Gather basic information, such as names, dates, and places.
  • Search our online catalog for items in our Genealogy collection.
  • Bring pencil and paper to take notes.
  • Bring cash/credit card to print out materials.
  • If you would research assistance, contact the Schertz Area Genealogy Group at sagschertz@gmail.com prior to your visit.
