- The $ sign won the vote for a general consensus. We will watch for any complaints.
- Did we reach any consensus on the citation placement issue? Forums discussion.
Business/Announcements[edit | edit source]
- Old project returning - Professional Genealogists on the Wiki - thoughts? Feedback? -- janellv (talk| contribs) 15:10, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Would some screening be required? Would they need to be registered with FamilySearch?
- Liability issues need to be addressed
- Great article on the Wiki, referring to it as a Goldmine. (Just an informational thing)
New Agenda Items[edit | edit source]
- We would like to publish a Wiki newsletter that would go to contributors, etc. We would love to get your ideas for subjects that could be included. Would the FS Library like to contribute information on any of their projects? Would any of you like to write a short article that could be included. Also, do you think once a month is too often, or would every other month be a better schedule?averyld 20:28, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Once a month - depending on length - brings into notice more often
- Will we be able to get enough articles for once a month? - Could feature an article and a tip for using the Wiki- pull back on that if we have a lot of news.
- Send to libraries that do a lot of genealogical research - Allentown, and county libraries - PDF style? Consider if it goes over well with Wiki users.
- Could it be a blog? Would encourage feedback and discussion. Would a library use a blog? Could you include the PDF? Would they need a hard copy to post on bulletin board, etc. Query - would this be of interest to you and how would you like it delivered?
- Information about current projects
- Write new articles that might be significant and of use to public
- Feature contributor and tell what they like to do in the wiki
- Training video's, success stories
- WikiHow shows how many contributions have been made by contributors - showcase a contributor who has made significant contributions
- Question and answer section - that could be answered in the next issue
- May be read more widely if attached to email in PDF form
- Discuss protect/unprotect (policy;https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Help:Protecting_and_unprotecting_pages)
specifically to amend the policy to require "that pages be proposed for protection or un-protection. This would prevent situations where one user arbitrarily blocks all other non-moderators from editing without the input of others." as suggested by lotje2, et al

- If anyone wants to protect a page, there should be an "intent" statement to promote discussion.
- If a page is protected, there should be a statement for why it's being done.
- Moderators can change protection levels, unless being protected at admin level only
- Discuss in tech meeting
- Discuss the Kent Workhouse HRC thread: Do we really want to ignore these people? Much goodwill has been lost, yet they keep trying. Suggestions? (and I'm not a British researcher!) AdkinsWH 03:35, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
- Dorothy Horan has been communicating with these people in Forums. She has answered this question in Forums and on the Discussion page
