Class Reminders for the week of September 19th through the 23rd at the Payson FamilySearch Center

School is in full swing. Fall is in the air. It is a wonderful time to start working and learning all the things you can do to organize your Family History. Our classes this week will be helpful in getting you started. Bring a friend and enjoy learning all the new things available for you. All classes are free. Tuesday, September 19th at 10:30 am, Dennis Ransom will be teaching “England’s BMD & Christening Records.” Dennis, from an early age, has had a great interest in Temple and Family History Work. He has organized Family Reunions and has done a lot of research in British and Early American Records. He has served as a Family Search Center consultant for over 10 years. Do you need help searching for relatives in England? Dennis will show you ways to find and search the BMD (birth, marriage, and death records), and the christening records in England.

Wednesday, September 20th at 1:30 pm, 7:30 pm Glenn Whicker will be teaching “Defining Your Digital Legacy.” What is your plan to keep your precious photos and important documents accessible for your posterity after you pass away? Come and learn tried and true techniques to answer these important questions. Glenn Whicker is a records preservation missionary at our FamilySearch Center.

Thursday, September 21st at 6:30 pm, Van Celaya will be teaching “FamilySearch: Time is of the Essence.” Elder Celaya worked for a major technology company for over 35 years. He has been doing genealogy since the age of 12 and has taught family history to over 53,000 people. Van works for BYU as an instructor and teaches webinars to people all over the world. Most people do not have hours to search for things on FamilySearch. Van Celaya will show you fast and accurate ways to do research on FamilySearch. It will save you time and produce the results you need.

Thursday, September 21st at 7:30 pm, Shelly Strand will be teaching “Researching Your Family” in the computer room. This is a hands-on class. Shelly will share resources to assist you in your search for family records. Shelly just finished her bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Family History Research. This week, we will focus on using FamilySearch’s Record Finder. Learn about this tool that directs you to record types and collections that could have the information that answers your research questions.

Saturday, September 23rd at 10:30 am, Kristy Bloomer will be teaching “A Tutorial Through FamilySearch-Everything You Might Not Know”. FamilySearch is always improving and adding new things to help find our family. Kristy and her husband are the directors at our center. They have served a mission at the FamilySearch Center in Salt Lake City. Kristy will show you tricks that you might have missed, things that are new, and helpful hints in navigating FamilySearch.
