Youth Internship Program

The FamilySearch Center in Ogden, Utah is offering an internship program for youth interested in Family History work.

  • The purpose of the internship program is to give youth an opportunity to learn and better understand family history work and to use their skills in the service of others. This internship program is designed for youth ages 12-18, but individuals as young as 11 may be enrolled upon recommendation from their Bishop. The purpose of this program is to teach family history skills to each intern that can prepare them to serve as ward Temple and Family History Consultants. More importantly, this program can help each individual learn family history programs and research skills, be able to prepare ancestors for temple ordinances, and be able to assist others in this work.
  • As an intern, each youth will serve side-by-side with experienced FamilySearch missionaries in learning genealogical research techniques. Besides demonstrating their newly learned skills, they will also gain confidence in working with patrons to solve family history problems.
  • The internship involves a minimum requirement of two (2) hours per week for eight weeks or four (4) hours per week for four weeks (16 total hours minimum). There will be some required activities and skills to pass off as part of the experience. Participants will be able to choose which shifts they want to serve, subject to availability. We realize youth are generally very busy and therefore conflicts may arise with the youth’s work or school schedule. In that situation, the intern will be able to schedule another session on a different day in order to complete their training.
  • Before completing their online application, each youth should consult with their Bishop to determine if they qualify for the program, possess the proper maturity level, and have parental support. The Bishop’s information should be included on the application for verification by the Center. After submission of the application, each applicant will be notified by email and will also receive a “call letter” for their internship.
  • We have a limited number of positions available, so if you are aware of interested youth, please encourage them to reserve an internship spot soon. You may call the Ogden FamilySearch Center at 801.626.1132 to complete and submit an application, or you can print the application and bring it into the Ogden FamilySearch Center once it is completed.
  • You can also attach the completed application to an email click here. If you have questions you can either call the Ogden FamilySearch Center at 801.626.1132 or email Sister Nowland click here
