  • At the conclusion of the Independence of Central America in 1821, it was incorporated into the department of Sololá / Suchitepéquez.
  • In 1838 he joined the ephemeral State of Los Altos, until he reincorporated it to the State of Guatemala in 1840.
  • As a result of the definitive separation of the departments of Sololá and Suchitepéqez in 1934, it passed into the jurisdiction of the latter.
  • In 1951 it lost part of its territory as a result of the creation of the municipality of Rio Bravo.
  • The municipality of Santa Bárbara has a population of approximately 23,000 people[1]
