The Umatilla Reservation was established in 1855 for the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla Indians. They joined together as the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Reservation in 1949.

  • 1800's: The Umatilla participated in fur trading with North West Company and Hudson's Bay Company and the American Fur Company
  • 1847-50: Cayuse War
  • 1853: Umatilla Reservation was established near Pendleton, Oregon
