Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
The 36th Regiment was recruited from several counties in southeastern Ohio,
Company A Lowell, Washington County
Company B Athens & Gallia Counties
Company C Athens County
Company D Jackson County
Company E Monroe County
Company F Washington County
Company G "Salem Light Guard" Washington & Columbiana Counties
Company H Meigs County
Company I Montgomery County
Company K Jackson County
