Monthly Consultant Training

Each month we will focus on addressing the issues you face as you fulfill your calling to “creating experiences during which individuals can learn something meaningful about their family story” (Church Handbook under Family History Calling).

We want to tailor these training classes to the specific needs of the Stake and Ward consultants in our area, so we will have a short questionnaire at the end of the class where you will be able to tell us what you want to learn in these training classes.

The same training class will be offered in the morning at 11:00am and again at 6:30pm. You need to register for each session on our website at www.sacfamilysearchlibrary.org.

Our first class, on January 6, 2021, “Bird By Bird” will focus on helping our members work on their Family History without feeling guilty about what they haven’t been able to do and strategies Ward and Stake consultants can use to motivate and encourage members. We will also cover the “Help” section on FamilySearch.org website.

Instructor: Laurie Markham

Upcoming Classes

Sacramento Familysearch Library Class January 12th at 11:00am and January 14th at 6:30p

“Using Existing Research to Strengthen and Extend Your Family Tree”

In this class we will explain and show by example how to use Puzzilla, Ancestry Public Member Trees, FamilySearch.org and Ancestry DNA Thru Lines to find ancestors and “cousins” and/or new supporting sources for them. In this class we will also explore Ancestry DNA Thru Lines and how to use this wonderful tool to find answers, solve mysteries and even connect with living cousins in your tree. You do not have to be a DNA expert to use DNA Thur Lines.
