Stratton Poor Law Union[edit | edit source]

A parliamentary report of 1777 recorded a parish workhouse in operation at Stratton for up to 20 inmates.

Stratton Poor Law Union was officially formed on 28th January 1837

The union comprised the following parishes
Bude Haven, Cornwall Jacobstow, Cornwall Kilkhampton, Cornwall Launcells, Cornwall
Marhamchurch, Cornwall Morwentstow, Cornwall Poughill, Cornwall Poundstock, Cornwall
 St_Gennys,_Cornwall Stratton, Cornwall Week St Mary, Cornwall
Whitstone, Cornwall
