Purpose

The Dallas Genealogical Society (DGS) is a Texas non-profit organization whose purpose is threefold:

to educate by creating, fostering, and maintaining interest in genealogy;
to support the Genealogy Section of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Public Library in Dallas, Texas; and
to preserve historical information relating to the city of Dallas, Dallas County, and North Texas.

All-day educational seminars are offered three times each year (Spring, Summer, and Fall). These typically feature nationally recognized genealogical speakers.

DGS sponsors several Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to provide members with an opportunity to meet and work with other genealogists in specific areas.
