Natchez Trace
The Natchez Trace was trail between Nashville, Tennessee and Natchez, Missississippi. In the 1790s it was extended from Nashville, Tennessee to Maysville, Kentucky where it connected with Zane' Trace through Ohio to Wheeling, West Virginia.
Historical Background
It was first used by animals and American Indians. The Natchez Trace followed a natural ridge and at first was only a narrow footpath or horse trail unsuitable for wagons because of tree stumps.
