PRESERVING FAMILY MEMORIES

We Offer DIGITIZING EQUIPMENT

That will preserve your memories for your posterity.

The LVFSL provides Free conversion equipment that will preserve those old recordings into a format that will be accessible for years to come.
You only need to bring your recordings or images and your 8 - 16 GB flash drive.
We will teach you how to operate the equipment. We will be available throughout your visit to answer your questions.

Reserving Digitizing Equipment

To reserve our digitizing equipment call the library at 702-382-9695

It is best to call ahead to reserve specific digitizing equipment.
You may reserve one piece of equipment for a 2 hour block. If no one has reserved this same equipment after your reservation you may continue to use the equipment for 1 more hour or move to other available equipment.

We offer a VIDEO RECORDING STUDIO

To record today's memories in real time.

Preserve your stories, your faces, and your voices in our recording studio.
The studio is designed with audio and video technology making it possible to store your experience on audio, mp4 or digital movie on a flash drive. The studio can hold a group of 10-15 persons. Our microphones and lighting provide for a successful recording experience. The studio is staged similar to a home family room, and the furnishing may be rearranged if desired.
Using prepared interview questions helps the interviewee to focus on dates, places, events, and people which creates an invaluable oral history.

Please bring a USB drive with at least 8Gb of available space per session. (USB-3 drive is strongly recommended).

Book and Large Document Scanner
The book scanner is for bound books with the ability to scan the open book.

Photo Scanner
A large flatbed scanner is attached to a high-speed batch photo scanner. They convert photos and documents to digital images.

Slide Scanner
Slide scanners convert slides to digital images.

Video Tape Conversion
This equipment converts VHS/Compact VHS tapes to MP4 digital files.

Video Recording Studio

The Las Vegas FamilySearch Library Video Recording Studiois available to record your family's stories. Designed with audio and video technology for recording into audio and mp4, digital movies. The comfortable furnishings and decorations create an aura of the past ideal for recording personal histories. All our digital audio and video equipment has been programmed to make recording oral histories and interviews easy. Our qualified staff will provide all technical support for your recording session.

Reserving Video Recording Session

To reserve our video recording studio for a live recording experience, please schedule by calle the library at 702-382-9695
You may reserve a recording event for up to 1 hour. Our staff will assist.
Groups may relate their story about a recent event such as a service project or youth conference.
Family members share memories and record grandma’s voice and smile as she tells her own story.
You must bring your own 16 GB flash drive on which your completed video will be transferred.

You will need to bring a USB drive for use in the Family Story Room. It needs to be a minimum of 8 GB preferably 16 GB(for recording up to two hours) and be in its original, unopened package.
