History
- After the independence of Central America in 1821, Sanarate became part of the Acasaguastlán circuit.
- Then he was assigned to the department of Jalapa, which was created on November 24, 1873.
- Finally passed to the department of El Progreso when it was created on April 13, 1908.
- Although the department was dismantled in 1920, Sanarate was reassigned to it when it was created again in 1934.
- The municipality of Sanarate has a population of approximately 33,000 people[1]
