History
- Concepcion was also called by its Guarani name of Yaguareté Corá, "Corral of the Jaguar".
- The department of Concepción was founded on September 21, 1796 as part of the settlement of the area.
- In 1870, by decision of the provincial government, the department officially adopted the name of Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.
- The department of Concepción has a population of approximately 21,000 people. [1]
