Description of Collections

Welcome to the Genealogical Society of Sweden! You will find our Archive and Library in our premises in Sundbyberg as well as a research room with computers where you can get access to the most used genealogical websites as well as several important databases. As a member you have access to all this.

Our website is constantly updated with news about events and digitized material.

Information is also available on our Facebook page

Our Archive and Library is one of the largest on genealogical literature in Sweden and contains very unique files, such as many of our members' own genealogies that have been donated since our society started in 1933. Nowadays, we are working intensively to supplement our digital archive and searchable databases – i. e. domestic passports from the 19th century Sweden or information on refugees from World War II who came to Sweden.

Services

We arrange various meetings in our premises where we invite lecturers in different areas that may be of interest to genealogists. We also arrange genealogy and DNA workshops and discussion groups where you can get advice and support in your genealogy. All our current events can be found on our website and on our facebook group. We film all lectures and publish them on the member pages of our website.

We also sell our own digitized genealogy products such as Johan Bure's family book, Elgenstiernas Ättartal, Herdaminen and digitized volumes of our periodicals Släkt & Hävd and SGT- Svensk Genealogisk Tidskrift. Magazines, books and digitized genealogy products can be purchased through our webstore on our website.

If you want to know more about your relatives but not do the research yourself or if you have hit a brick wall in your own research, we offer assignment research. Contact research[at]genealogi.net with your question.
